Privacy Policy — Netsource Sentinel
Effective date: 14 August 2026
Last updated: 14 August 2026
Netsource Sentinel (“Netsource Sentinel”, “the App”) is a mobile network and firewall management application provided by Netsource.
This Privacy Policy explains how Netsource Sentinel accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the App.
Netsource Sentinel is designed primarily for network administrators, IT professionals, managed service providers, and users who manage OPNsense firewall systems.
By using Netsource Sentinel, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information you provide to Netsource Sentinel
To connect Netsource Sentinel to an OPNsense firewall, you may provide information such as:
- Firewall or server name
- Firewall hostname, IP address, or URL
- OPNsense API key
- OPNsense API secret
- Connection preferences
- Self-signed certificate preference
- Other firewall profile configuration information
This information is used to establish and manage connections between Netsource Sentinel and the firewall you choose to manage.
Firewall credentials
OPNsense API keys and API secrets are stored locally on your device using secure Android storage.
Netsource Sentinel does not intentionally transmit your OPNsense API key or API secret to Netsource servers in the current public Free version of the App.
The credentials are used directly by the App when communicating with the OPNsense firewall configured by the user.
Other non-sensitive firewall profile information may be stored locally in the App's preferences.
2. OPNsense firewall data
When connected to an OPNsense firewall, Netsource Sentinel may retrieve information required to provide firewall-management functionality, including:
- System information
- Interface information
- Traffic statistics
- Firewall rules and states
- Firewall logs
- DHCP and Kea information
- Network neighbors
- Gateway status
- VPN status
- Service status
- Captive portal information
- Users and groups
- Diagnostics information
- Other OPNsense configuration and operational information requested by the user
This information is exchanged directly between the App and the OPNsense firewall configured by the user.
In the current public Free version, Netsource does not operate a cloud service that receives or stores copies of your firewall configuration, firewall logs, API credentials, or other OPNsense management data.
3. Demo Mode
Netsource Sentinel provides a built-in Demo Mode.
Demo Mode uses locally generated demonstration data and does not require access to a real OPNsense firewall or real firewall credentials.
Demo Mode is intended to allow users and application reviewers to explore representative App functionality without connecting to a production firewall.
4. Advertising
The Free version of Netsource Sentinel is supported by advertising.
The App uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to provide advertisements.
Google Mobile Ads may automatically collect and share certain device and usage information, including:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate approximate location
- App interactions, such as app launches, taps, and advertisement interactions
- Diagnostic and performance information
- Device or other identifiers, including advertising-related identifiers where available
Google states that Mobile Ads SDK 25.4.0 automatically collects these categories for advertising, analytics, and fraud-prevention purposes, and that the data it collects is encrypted in transit using TLS.
Google may use this information for purposes including:
- Advertising and ad delivery
- Advertising measurement
- Analytics
- Fraud prevention
- Security
- Compliance
The processing of information by Google is governed by Google's own privacy policies and applicable Google advertising terms.
5. Advertising consent and privacy choices
Netsource Sentinel uses Google's User Messaging Platform where applicable to request advertising-related privacy choices and consent.
Depending on your country or region, you may be presented with a consent message before personalized advertising or related processing is enabled.
Where required, the App also provides access to Google's advertising privacy options.
The availability and content of these options may depend on applicable law, Google requirements, device configuration, and geographic location.
6. Data collected by Netsource
The current public Free version of Netsource Sentinel does not require users to create a Netsource Sentinel account.
The current Free version also does not use a Netsource cloud account to synchronize firewall profiles or firewall configuration between devices.
Consequently, Netsource does not normally receive personal account information such as your:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Contacts
- Photos
- Videos
- Audio files
- Financial information
- Health information
through normal use of the App.
Information may nevertheless be provided voluntarily if you contact Netsource or support personnel by email or another support channel.
7. Third-party services
Netsource Sentinel currently includes third-party components required for application functionality, including services provided by Google.
The principal external service involved in the Free release is:
Google Mobile Ads / AdMob
Google may process advertising, device, approximate location, interaction, and diagnostic information as described above.
Third-party providers process information according to their own privacy policies and contractual obligations.
8. Data Safety summary
For purposes of the Google Play Data Safety declaration, the current Free version of Netsource Sentinel discloses data associated with Google Mobile Ads in the following categories:
Approximate location
- Collected
- Shared
- Used for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention/security
App interactions
- Collected
- Shared

- Used for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention/security
Google requires developers to account for data collected by embedded third-party SDKs as part of the application's Data Safety disclosure.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by Netsource Sentinel.
These measures include:
- Secure local storage for firewall API credentials
- HTTPS as the normal/default method for connecting to OPNsense systems
- Support for HTTPS systems using locally managed or self-signed certificates
- TLS-protected communications used by Google Mobile Ads
- Avoiding transmission of firewall API credentials to Netsource servers in the current Free release
Users are responsible for securely configuring and maintaining their own OPNsense firewall, network, certificates, VPN access, API users, and API permissions.
If a user explicitly configures an insecure or unencrypted firewall endpoint, the security of that connection depends on the user's network and firewall configuration.
We strongly recommend using HTTPS for all remote firewall connections.
10. Local data storage
Netsource Sentinel stores certain information locally on your device so that the App can function.
This may include:
- Firewall profiles
- Selected firewall
- OPNsense API credentials
- User preferences
- Application configuration
- Advertising/privacy preferences managed by applicable SDKs
OPNsense API credentials are stored using secure device storage.
Some non-sensitive configuration and preference information may be stored using standard application preferences.
11. Data retention
Firewall profiles and credentials stored by Netsource Sentinel remain on your device until one of the following occurs:
- You delete the firewall profile
- You clear the App's data
- You uninstall the App
- The operating system removes the App's data
Netsource does not maintain a central cloud copy of these firewall profiles or credentials in the current Free version.
Information processed by Google Mobile Ads is retained according to Google's applicable policies and retention practices.
Information voluntarily sent to Netsource through a support request may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, maintain support records, meet security requirements, or comply with applicable legal obligations.
12. Data deletion
Because the current Free version does not create a Netsource Sentinel user account, there is no cloud Sentinel account that users need to delete.
You can delete locally stored firewall information by:
- Removing a firewall profile within the App
- Clearing Netsource Sentinel application data through Android settings
- Uninstalling Netsource Sentinel
Deleting or uninstalling the App removes locally stored App information according to Android's application-data management behavior.
For questions or requests concerning information that you have voluntarily provided directly to Netsource, you may contact us using the details below.
13. Advertising identifiers
Android may provide advertising-related identifiers to Google Mobile Ads.
Depending on your Android version and device settings, you may be able to reset, restrict, or delete your advertising identifier through Android privacy settings.
Google also provides mechanisms that can restrict certain advertising processing depending on applicable privacy requirements and user choices.
14. Children's privacy
Netsource Sentinel is a professional network and firewall administration application.
The App is not designed for or directed toward children and is intended for adult users and professional network administrators.
We do not knowingly design Netsource Sentinel services for the purpose of collecting personal information from children.
15. User responsibilities
Netsource Sentinel allows users to manage systems that may contain sensitive network information.
You are responsible for:
- Protecting your device
- Protecting firewall credentials
- Creating OPNsense API users with appropriate permissions
- Restricting API access according to the principle of least privilege
- Using secure network connectivity
- Using HTTPS where possible
- Protecting VPN or remote-management access
- Ensuring that your use of firewall information complies with applicable policies and laws
Netsource Sentinel should not be configured with more firewall privileges than are necessary for the intended administrative tasks.
16. International data processing
Third-party services used by Netsource Sentinel, particularly Google advertising services, may process information using infrastructure located in different countries.
Such processing is governed by the applicable service provider's privacy practices and legal safeguards.
Your OPNsense firewall management information is normally exchanged directly between your device and the firewall endpoint you configure and is not routed through a Netsource cloud service in the current Free release.
17. No sale of firewall credentials
Netsource does not sell your OPNsense API credentials, firewall configuration, firewall logs, or locally stored firewall profiles.
Advertising-related information handled by Google is processed according to Google's advertising and privacy policies.
18. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when:
- Netsource Sentinel functionality changes
- New services or SDKs are introduced
- Advertising practices change
- Commercial or subscription features are introduced
- Data-handling practices change
- Legal or regulatory requirements change
When material changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy will be revised.
Users are encouraged to review this page periodically.
19. Future commercial features
Netsource Sentinel contains architecture that may support commercial, Pro, MSP, licensing, subscription, or cloud-based functionality in future versions.
The current public Free release does not enable commercial licensing or a Netsource cloud account.
If future versions begin transmitting licensing, account, subscription, device-registration, firewall-management, or other information to Netsource infrastructure, this Privacy Policy and the Google Play Data Safety declaration will be updated before or when those features are released.
